6. A National Treasure
As more and more people began to learn about the wonders of Grand Canyon through photographs and artistic renderings, people wanted to see the area for themselves. Much of the Grand Canyon tourism boom experienced in the late 1880’s is primarily due to writer/geologist Clarence Dutton and Painter Thomas Moran. These men produced works that celebrated the canyon, helping people begin to see it as a national treasure.
