15. Minecraft (2009 – PC)
Released in 2009 by Swedish developer Notch, Minecraft is an experience unlike any other. Players are dropped into an open world sandbox that seems to be built entirely out of different textured blocks. The game features incredible randomly generated formations, unlimited replayability, and one of the most complex and in depth crafting systems in all of modern gaming. Minecraft is a lush, and creative response to the insistence that video games need a story to be popular.
